{"id":48,"date":"2010-01-10T17:49:50","date_gmt":"2010-01-10T22:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oldrit.com\/?p=48"},"modified":"2010-07-20T21:13:06","modified_gmt":"2010-07-21T01:13:06","slug":"parade-of-maidens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oldrit.com\/?p=48","title":{"rendered":"Parade of Maidens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Odd thing about the downtown campus of RIT, each year students in the third ward would return a few days or even weeks early.\u00a0 Granted, it was a way to make your rented apartment inhabitable, but mostly it was to see our old friends.\u00a0 Another major incentive was to be on hand when the freshman women moved into Kate Gleason Hall.\u00a0 This was the day before the rest of the students were to arrive so our most precious natural resource was on display.\u00a0 Mike Lofton, a Sophomore, had given me (a Freshman), a ride from the deep South, explaining the need to be in Rochester early for the fun.<\/p>\n<p>As the sun set at the end of Spring Street and the freshman women&#8217;s parents leaving,\u00a0 there was an obvious need to help the young ladies find the Past Time.\u00a0 What better way than an evening parade.\u00a0 Many later gave Tom Frahm the credit.\u00a0 He had a bullhorn, lots of shabby band instruments and the willingness to lead.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_49\" style=\"width: 389px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49\" class=\"size-large wp-image-49   \" src=\"https:\/\/oldrit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/DSC_0031-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Earle Cook and Mike Sandel tuning a Tuba with Genesee Crean Ale.
