David J. Leveille

David was colorful.  He was kind.  He was inventive.  He enjoyed the humor in everything that was around him.  He grew up in Pawtucket, RI, a place that he, (and everyone I’ve encountered from there), pronounced with a truly unique local accent, spitting the word Pawtucket.

He drank tea.  He rescued cats.  His right index finger was curled like he was forever pulling a trigger, making every gesture from pointing, to smoking, to dunking a tea bag, truly his own.  It also meant that he operated a camera using his middle finger.  His forever crippled finger, his grin and his camera clicking, meant Dave was back.

He was fascinated by the gritty, industrial, working class nature of downtown Rochester.  He photographed its streets and its people while a photo student at RIT, and chose to spend his remaining 40 years there.  Immediately out of RIT he had loyal clients.  He bought an industrial building and created North Light Studio.

He loved and was loved.

Old RIT was created by Third Act Films, who produce video biography and commissioned documentary productions.
